BIKER LIFESTYLE NETWORK

This is a motorcycle forum and I apologize in advance for this post.

I promised myself AND The people that help run this network and the local "hands on" version that I would NOT gunk up this site with political rants. It would be easy to do, there is no question about that. The truth is that I have come to the conclusion after 4 years with Obama as president that it doesn't really matter who is behind the wheel, the political "machine" and deep pocketed lobbyists are driving the country. Some are better at sitting behind the wheel than others and that is ultimately what defines their time there.

Obama made LOTS of promises MOST of which he did not keep. If you actually need proof of that go here and then come back to this motorcycle forum. ;) I was one of the people that fell for his "change" routine. Hook, line and sinker. All the way to the bank, literally. I have always invested in the real estate market. THANKFULLY, I own 80% of my properties since the ones I don't own either belong to the bank now OR I am so far underwater that I will NEVER get back to solid ground. The bank, Chase bank actually, refused to allow me to short sale a couple properties which I in turn walked away from which THEY in turn foreclosed on and subsequently SOLD at the precisely the same amount my lawyer proposed to them for the short sale. Long sentence explained...? Chase screwed me. Long sentence explained in "Obama terms?" He CLAIMS to have implemented programs to prevent what happened to me from happening. They don't work and he could care less.

ANYWAY.... This is a motorcycle forum and I STARTED writing about Obama, broken promises and fuel prices..... Yes, THAT was IT! Fuel prices! As I am sure you are ALL aware fuel prices are out of control. Pushing $4 here for unleaded and waaaay beyond that for diesel. And virtually every truck I own is...... diesel. Nice. And to make it even more exciting, Energy Secretary Steven Chu was quoted in the WSJ saying "Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe." He made that statement shortly after accepting the SE position, however reiterated that this week when asked at a House hearing if "the overall goal of President Obama is to get fuel prices lower?" He replied, "No."

Confirmation as if I needed any more that Obama and his posse are nothing more than the typical out of touch millionaire politicians that don't give a damn about the everyday lives the "real" people live. And the REASON that they don't care, specifically about fuel prices...? Powerful lobbyists which I am CERTAIN are behind the rising prices AND he is more concerned with his 2012 campaign than he is about our pocketbooks. Unfortunately I see NO ONE on the horizon that has any chance of derailing the billion dollar Obama campaign. I can scream "Anyone But Obama", however, it really won't mean a thing.

I apologize for this brief rant being so confusing. I was trying to express several opinions in a short piece and it didn't work out very well. After all, this is just a motorcycle forum anyway. :)

Wow, don't get me started.  First off, I didn't vote for Obama, partly 'cause I am a Republican but please calm down before you judge.  I am a California Republican, on the m oderate side and these whack jobs like Santorium, Bachman and the lot with their 'Amish' ways are ridiculous at best.  I do believe in a woman's right to chose and not have her rights taken away with forced birth which is in my estimation 'Taliban' ideals.  I believe in evolution and gravity too unlike some of the Republican candidates trying to stay inthe race.

I digress, Obama has done nothing more than hyperbole.  He likes the 'feel good' speeches periodically but he proposes 'new legislation' to help our economy but nothing gets through Congress.  The stimulus package was a joke, it put money back into the hands of the corporations who lost it in the first place.  Would love to see a web site where actual people benefited from this money.  Where is it?, where did it go and why isn't it apparent or rather transparent.  Occupy This, we need more clarity on the subject.  There is an FHA loan 203A I think where you can buy a house than needs improvement and borrow 110 or 115 percent with that money going to improvements like a well or new kitchen, etc.  However, it is a secret to a lot of homebuyers and that is just a drop in the bucket of the stimulus money.

I felt as though Obama wasn't experienced enough to take it 'on'.  I do believe that about John F. Kennedy too and you can read about his inexperience about the 'Bay of Pigs'.  We do need someone to be strong but also understand where we are going with every subject. jobs, housing, energy...we need a plan.  We used to be a country with all the 'Think Tanks'..where did they go?

It is just like Iraq and Afghanistan, history repeats itself..like Viet Nam.  We finaly got out of there but it wasn't easy.  Obama found that out about the middle east endeavor.  The President has very limited power but he needs to be steadfast and make unpopular decision and not totally cave in to all the special interest groups.  He tries to please everyone and he is making a big mistake.  In this country, we need someone to roll up their sleeves, stop all the redundancy or rather the useless spending.  We are not a police state and we can't help everyone but the UN we are currently in, most of them hate us..we need to disband or start our own UN, call it something different and bring our allies.  We spend a fortune on that total waste.  It never ends you see..we need change without bullshit.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this........... (Actually I'm not, there is NO embarrassing me! ;) I AM a Republican. I saw NO OPTION in the last election. McCain and Palin....? C'mon. McCain dies and Palin is Prez....? EZ to look at, HOWEVER, dumb as a box of rocks. That's as ridiculous as Cain or Romney. There HAS to be a better field out there!!!!

Obama talks in theory and people lap it up. I believe he has certainly lost a majority of the black vote, however, it won't matter. He has too much cash. You brought up a very good point about experience. I NEVER took THAT into consideration until now. In fact that is why I didn't vote for McCain. I thought he was "old school" and decided we needed someone younger. I've learned that a younger president may not be better. We need someone in there with LIFE experience. Ronald Reagan.....? :)

Our country is in BIG trouble. I live in the "Gold Coast" of Michigan and gas prices are already killing skiing up here as "city folk" don't want to spend an additional $75 to drive up here. And to make it even more exciting our president doesn't fucking CARE about fuel prices..... Insane.

In the meantime, there is a blizzard howling outside. Lake Michigan is BOILING with Northwest winds and subsequently my power is out. Time for another drink... ;)

Wow! You two have given me a lot to digest. It is so hard to know what the truth is when you hear "politics". I did not vote for Obama, but have tried my best to respect him as our president. It has not been easy. I always claimed to be an "Independent" but the older I get the more I tend to lean towards Republican.

I agree on the inexperience thing, but not just when it comes to management and leadership. I wish those guys could spend a year hanging out with us and see what it is really like to live the life of the blue collar that they claim they are looking out for. They don't have a clue.....

I voted for McCain even though Palin was there by his side.  She is a smart girl but she is factually challenged and I think her verbal inexperience would have thrown us into some hot water somewhere.  She did not have any experience just a lucky girl who went from PTA president in Alaska to Governor.  However, he could have whisked her away and kept her quiet like Cheney emerging periodically but not the primary speaker.  Hillary Clinton, a democrat of course but...she is uber sharp and is out there in the world seasoning herself for a future run and she will have enough experience.  My problem with her negotiating in the Middle East is..let's not forget, she is a woman and middle eastern men do not take it well when the tables are turned and women are giving orders.  It is the same reason Conda Leeza Rice was unable to make headway over there.  She is a woman.  Of course, we can't send anyone Jewish over there like our old friend Kissinger but hopefully they will find someone.  When Hillary runs I will vote for her even though I am a Republican cause I do vote for the person not the party.  I bet she is looking around trying to find her running mate.  I like her rhetoric, I like her speaking capabilities, I like her 'can do and I do' plan.

Even though I do not want Obama reelected for again, the Republican candidates are screaming lunacy.  The ones that were good had to drop out, the money was spent and they had to turn out the lights and that is a sad state of affairs for this country.  He who has the most money wins,..the prettiest too!  Hey, I want an ugly Prez if he is good.

Ronald Reagan made tough decisions.  He stated he never read the tabloids and newspapers or his approval rating he just went forth based upon the advisors.  He made some decisions that we are still paying for now but had to 'nurse' the economy back to health.   Jimmy Carter negotiated and negotiated the release of the Iranian hostages but as soon as Reagan stepped into office, knowing that he was a Republican, the hostages were released within days.  Reagan meant business and they knew that.

Aren't supposed to blog on polictics?  I like it.  I studied political science in college.  I didn't get a degree but it kept me interested in contemporary politics.

I agree with you on Hillary. When she runs, she will likely get my vote. Very intelligent with a reputation as being so AND tough. Carter has done more good since he left office than he ever did IN office. I could blog about politics/current events all day! :)

Obama needs to go. We have no real options tho......

Damn maybe you SHOULD have a political blog out here! You three (You, Caryle, and Julia) share some interesting posts! :)

I don't understand why people blame our President for the financial crisis left him by his predecessor. He's blamed for the rise in fuel costs. Financially, we are getting back on track. It's been slow. Lack of regulation is to blame. Enough said, this is a Motorcycle sight. I will comment no further, unless it's MC related.

This is the only MC site that I am engaged.  The diversity in subjects including political keeps me here.  If I had to blog on MCs only I would probably stay away and be thoroughly bored but there are quite a few people here who blog and blog well sparking a discussion.  I understand the passion in bikes and I love'em too but I hang around bikers who are tuned in to the world.  Opposition is what makes this country so great and if we didn't have it, we could end up like Russia at the moment with rigged elections or have a Prez gettting away with unspeakable acts due to the lack of opposition.  As it stands, if he is re-elected, he has to work for it against the rising candidates.  Back on track you say?  There is another wave of foreclosures coming up and a surplus of homes just sitting there.  I do not think anyone here blames the Prez for the financial situation however, we do blame a Prez who claims that he can fix the economy, fix the school system, fix this fix that when we all know it will be 10 years down the road BUT we should have a plan, invole the American people..have a goal, show us the road, what we need to sacrifice There are naysayers stating that we are like the Roman Empire and the show is almost over.  I do not believe that but I need something affressive and progressive.....something on the horizon to look forward to addressing America's financial problem.

I'm on this site to get away from the politics, unless it's MC related. You said yourself, It'll take 10 yrs. to fix our country. Would you take your bike in for repair. Let the mechanic start fixing it, only to take it to another shop and have someone else finish it? Have you watched any GOP debates? Their only goal is not about "fixing" anything. The main agenda is to remove our incumbent president, only because he's black. I'm not sure I'd want any of the GOP 's in our white house. They don't care about the middle-class and or any of our concerns. They lie, cheat, and spread misinformation. Is Obama anti-Israeli? Not the newscasts I've seen. Anti-Gun? You can now carry a firearm into a national park. What has Obama done that is so negative towards our country. Kill Osama?(He's the Commander-In-Chief, it was on his watch, his approval)

oops I meant something aggresie not affresive lol

Why are you bringing race into this..not fair. I am not a racist and that is not an issue. In fact, I am Jewish..a cafeteria Jew though, I pick n choose what I want to abide by. Perhaps Obama's next four years he will understand more and be able to do something with what he has to work with. His support of Israel is important. I agree with you on that. There is no doubt in my mind that he has the money and pull to be re-elected but it is nice to think that someday..someone with experience and know how will run for office. Nice pipe dream. A Winston Churchill type would be nice, a man who single handedly fought HItler during World War II but alas, Pearl Harbor catapulted us into the arena.
