44 Degrees
Every day I wake up and peek out the window to check for fresh snow or ice on the driveway in front of the shop. Today, the cement is wet. This looks promising.
I check the local weather report for the day's high temperature. Today will be 44 degrees.
I look back out my window staring at my shop. I visualize putting on my brown sweat shirt and my extra big leather coat. I see myself walking towards the shop, slipping on my winter gauntlets. I glance down to the ground and realize my boots and chaps are donned. I smile.
Then I look up at the sky and my fantasy ends as quickly as it began. The sky is grey. So thick are the grey clouds, I cannot even detect the sun's orb.
Sadly, I turn away from the window. Today is not the day to ride. 44 degrees or not.

I rode to work, so had to get home in the middle of the night....Now I tend to agree with you...If there's a chance of getting caught in nature's fury, I'll just stay home and write poetry...Thanks Anne, and welcome aboard...
Permalink Reply by LittleSisterWA (AnneH) on January 26, 2011 at 11:54pm I don't even wanna begin to think how cold it was last February when I rode over to Moses Lake from Spokane for an ABATE meeting. The other guy I rode with spent nearly an hr defrosting in Ritzville which is only 60 miles from Spokane. If I'd gone today it would have been 60 miles of miserable weather and no friends to sit and chat with. Still, it would have been a ride, a dull, gloomy one, but a ride. Soon enough it'll be the right time and I won't have to worry about de-icer.
Thanks Rod!
